Job Description: World Service Delegate
Purpose:
The Delegate is the primary communication link between Area
81 groups and the World Service Office.
The Delegate is an Al-Anon member elected by Group
Representatives at the Area Assembly. He/she
represents all groups in Area 81 at the annual World Service Conference (WSC)
in April of each year. through a yearly report at Area
World Service Committee meeting (AWSCM) and Assembly.
Qualifications:
- Completed
a term as District Representative
- Computer
skills
- Good
knowledge of traditions and concepts
- Familiar
with Al-Anon’s Service Manual
- Able
to travel to WSC, AWSCM and
Assembly locations
Roles and
Responsibilities:
- Elected
by GR’s for a 3 year term
- Attends
World Service Conference (WSC) at World Service Office (WSO) in Virginia Beach or
other appointed locations in April of each year
- Takes
the views of BC/Yukon Area 81 to the WSC on matters affecting the entire
fellowship
- Reports
the views and spirit of worldwide Al-Anon back to BC/Yukon area
- Creates
a report outlining the WSC agenda items for the Area 81 Bulletin
- Presents
report from WSC at AWSCM and Assembly
- Meets
with Area Officers & Coordinators in preparation for AWSCM and
Assembly
- Votes at
AWSCM (but not Assembly)
- Acts
as a resource to members in BC/Yukon area
- Passes
along information from WSO to
officers and coordinators
- When
coordinator position is not filled, acts as communication link from WSO to area.
- Works
on committees as assigned at World Service Conference
Job Description: Alternate Delegate
Purpose:
Provides support to the Delegate and participates as a
member of the Area World Service Committee.
Qualifications:

Al-Anon Member
- Past
DR
- Good
knowledge of traditions & concepts
- Good
Leadership skills
- Computer
proficiency
- Prepared
to serve a three year term
Role and
Responsibilities:
- Works
with the Delegate as much as possible
- Acquaints
himself/herself with the Delegate’s duties in the event the Delegate is
unable to fulfill his or her three year term and is prepared to step in to
complete it
- Assists
the Chair in duties such as helping produce forms, procedures, agendas,
- Serves
as the Area Forum Coordinator
- Serves
on Area committees when necessary
- Provides
support at AWSCM and Assemblies by facilitating workshops and
presentations
